Please bare in mind that we are situated in an old Victorian building that dates back to 1882 and as a result access facilities are limited.
In order to help visitors to plan their visit to our Aquarium & Attractions, as part of a day trip to Matlock Bath, please see below information that you may find useful.
Aquarium & Attractions
The entrance is through a turnstile followed by 16 steps going up, to the Petrifying Well, Gemstone display, Aquarium and Thermal Pool. This is followed by an additional 7 steps going up into the Hologram Gallery, History Display. Exit is via a total of 23 steps.
Wheelchair and pushchair access. No pushchairs allowed in the Aquarium, however we have a limited storage area for storing pushchairs whilst you visit the Aquarium. Our staff will advise you about this as you enter.
Dogs are welcome providing they are kept on a lead at all times.
Photography is allowed through out all of the
Exhibitions.
Food, Drinks, Slush & Ice cream are not permitted.
Toilets We do not have any public toilets or baby changing facilities. There are toilets located at the northern end of the village, by the pedestrian lights, on the river side of the road, a short walk from the car park.
Card payments We accept Credit and Debit cards.
Feeding the Fish The Carp in the Thermal Pool can be fed with food available to purchase from the pool side vending machines. This forms part of a controlled and balanced diet. Any other food forms are strictly forbidden to ensure the health of the fish.

Car Parking There are 'pay & display' car parks at both ends of the village as well as 1 hour on street parking. Full details are available on our 'Find us' page.
Food and drink There are a selection of restaurants, cafes, pubs and fish & chip shops along the length of the village, offering a wide range of food and drinks.
Shopping There are a variety of small shops in Matlock Bath as well as Mason Mill shopping complex as you travel south out of the village.
Walks With the river Derwent running through the village, this offers a wonderful riverside walk. There are numerous other walks into the hills for those who are bit more adventurous.
Parks & Gardens There is a childrens play park alongside the river towards the southern end end of the village, and a little further down are the Derwent gardens and fountain. |
